INTRODUCTION

Ready, Set, Go

Mallorca offers something for every cyclist, from some of the most impressive and demanding climbs to leisurely rides, making it a

popular destination for amateurs and professionals.

The cycling season begins in February and is busiest until May but most cycle shops are open until October. July and August are the

hottest months so not an ideal time for training. If you decide to come at this time, then going out at the crack of dawn will not only

ensure you have the run of the road but keep you cooler than you would be in the hot sun.

Raid Mallorca Day 2 Port de Soller to Po

DAY 02 - Port de Soller > Port de Pollenca

"Its relentless"

"Very much in the category of 'The Ride of the Week'. With the two big Guns - there is "nowhere to hide" today."

Puig Major (from Soller) – Cat 1 / 13.9km / 6.2% Altitude start: 20 m, Altitude top: 850 m, Ascent: 830 m,

Coll dels Reis (from Ma-10) – Cat 4 / 2.5km / 6.4% Altitude start: 570 m, Altitude top: 682 m, Ascent: 112 m,

Sa Calobra – Cat 1 / 9.5km / 7% Altitude start: 12 m, Altitude top: 682 m, Ascent: 670 m,

Once again its strait into it  "The Puig Major climb" from Soller up to Tunel de Monnaber, is the second most popular Climb in Mallorca after Sa Calobra. What makes it tough is its actual length – 14km is a long way up. The gradient however is steady at around 6% and it never gets too steep, then The Sa Calobra climb, the ascent from the village of Sa Calobra to Coll dels Reis, is one of the main reasons why cyclists come to Mallorca. With about 7% average gradient and less then 10km of climbing, Sa Calobra is not as challenging as the giants of the Alps and the Pyrenees, but it is an extraordinary climb indeed and certainly the most famous one in Mallorca. Its emblematic 26 hairpin bends, breath taking views and spine-tingling descent have captured the hearts of many cyclists.

Ermita de Betlem – Cat 3 / 5.1km / 5%, Altitude start: 137 m, Altitude top: 370 m, Ascent: 233 m

Coll de sa Creueta, also known as Mirador de la Creueta o El Colomer is a short 3.7km climb with amazing views. It starts easy from Puerto Pollensa, however there are some short and very steep sections along the way, The Cap de Formentor climb heads towards the famous lighthouse, at Mallorca’s most northern point. It is not particularly long nor steep, but this is what often makes this climb fun, the again the Coll de sa Creueta  but from the East is a short and steady climb on the way back from the Lighthouse, we then hit the flats going past pollenca & Alcudia reaching the climb to Ermita de Betlem located in the north east of Mallorca. It is a narrow winding road leading to the monastery at the top. The scenery is quite different compared to the typical climbs in Mallorca., then we descend back into Cala Millor to our  Hotel

Raid Mallorca Day 4 Cala Millor to Palma

DAY 04 - Cala Millor to Palma

"Beautiful back-roads and a delightful climb up to the San Salvador Monastery ."

San Salvador – Cat 2 Climb / 5km / 7% Altitude start: 100 m, Altitude top: 510 m, Ascent: 410 m

The climb to the San Salvador Hermitage begins as you leave the Ma-4010, 2km to the east of Felanitx. San Salvador is clearly signed and you can see it from miles around, so you should have no probelms finding the climb.
The climb situated in the Llevant Mountains in the east of Mallorca. It is characterised by numerous hairpin bends and is largely forested. However, the view from the top on a clear day is superb and certainly makes the climb worthwhile. At the top of the climb there is also a small museum with framed cycling world champion jerseys from various eras.
